What Can I Do?

Both individual/community and large-scale collective actions (by government, industry, or organizations, including organized protests) are needed for change to occur.

Climate action can be intimidating to undertake.

Here are some resources for doing your part.

Visualization Tools

To better understand the severity of rising sea levels, data visualization provides us with a clear perspective.

Sea Level Solutions Center Citizen Science

FIU's Sea Level Solutions Center, in collaboration with several partners, hosts yearly events to collect sea level rise data through "citizen science" flood reporting.

This information is aggregated and deposited into a living database to be used to verify frequency and extent of urban flooding in Miami. The data will inform adaptation solutions to increasing sea level rise concerns for vulnerable communities.

Sustainable Living

Although much of climate change and the issues that come with it are due to pollution by companies, there are things individuals can do, such as reducing their own impact and putting pressure on the companies responsible.

Earth Hero is an app and initiative that helps individuals respond to climate change by discovering positive steps we can take to care for our planet and communities

Wren is an initiative that searches for climate projects with the biggest potential and fundraises for them.

You can also educate others on climate change. Most people don't realize how urgent the problem is. Extinction Rebellion has some great educational content on their website.
